Postgame Quotes

BYU Head Coach Steve Cleveland

"We really got hurt on the boards. We were trying to find combinations of players who would block out, but ultimately what really hurt us was giving up 14 offensive rebounds. They were quicker to the ball, and we just couldn't get it done."

"We did a better job in the second half in terms of getting in the game but we just didn't really have a real significant post presence the entire game. We didn't get great efforts from our post guys and we didn't guard like we needed to guard."

"Jimmy (Balderson) and Mike (Hall) carried us offensively and did some nice things. They were the only two reasons we were in the game."

"It's hard to win on the road. We had two guys that did a nice job offensively but didn't get much production from the other guys. There was some resolve with our team. We wanted to throw the ball into the post and attack it. We got good execution and good shots and made the run in the second half but we just didn't quite have enough, especially with them getting the offensive rebounds."

"We've had a few games like this where it's come down to a free throw there or a rebound here, and we just haven't been able to get over the hump with that."

"We need Derek (Dawes) on the floor. Miles is out there working hard but has very limited experience. We need Derek on the floor the last two or three minutes of the ball game. When he's on the floor, we are a better basketball team. He's evolved into a very good player for us. We just don't have the same presence without him."

"We're going to try to win two games this weekend and then we're going to go back on the road and do the best we can. That's really all we can do. Hopefully come March, we'll be able to look back and know that we became a better basketball team. This team has a lot of fight in it and we're going to be ready for the MWC Tournament."

SDSU Head Coach Steve Fisher

"It was a great win for the Aztecs. I am proud of the way we competed tonight. We played with a lot of determination. We played a team a lot like us tonight. They were scrapping and fighting."
