Portland, Oregon (March 17, 2005)---The 22nd ranked BYU women's tennis team continues to dominate opponents as they walk over the University of Portland 7-0.
"It was a good match for us," said head coach Craig Manning. "Everybody played well, especially on the doubles side."
The Cougars went ahead early, as they swept Portland for the doubles point. The closest game was at the three doubles spot where Cougars Olga Boulytcheva and Sofia Holden won 8-3.
On the singles side, BYU just bullied their way past Portland. BYU's number one singles player Lauren Jones easily won 6-2,6-3 followed by Boulytcehva's win at the two spot.
Fueled by those wins, the Cougars drove away with the match. Anastasia Sourkova won 6-0,6-2, Sofia Holden won at four 6-1,6-1, followed by Dolly Chang's 6-1,6-3 win at five singles. Aussie Rebecca Pike finished off the match with a 6-3,6-4 win at six.
The Cougars are now 12-2 and riding a five game winning streak. BYU faces their final non-conference match tomorrow as they play the 29th ranked Oregon Ducks. You can follow the match live by logging on to www.goducks.com.
