Colorado Springs, Colorado (April 8th 2005)---In the first of their two-match road trip, the No. 26 BYU women's tennis team beat No. 41 New Mexico 4-3 to remain undefeated in Conference action.
The team struggled early on, losing at 1 and 2 doubles. Olga Boulytcheva and Sofia Holden, however, kept their perfect doubles streak alive with their 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles preventing the Lobo sweep. The win marks their 11th straight doubles win.
In singles, the Cougars depth proved to be too much for the Lobos. After the Cougars lost at 1 and 2 singles, the girls ripped off 4 straight wins to get the victory. It started with the Boulytcheva's key win at No. 3 singles 6-3,7-6 followed by freshman Jennifer Miccoli's 6-0,6-1 win at No. 4.
BYU picked up an easy win with Sofia Holden's 6-4,6-1 win at the No. 5 spot. Then to clinch the match Dolly Chang won 6-4,6-3 to solidify the team's 15th win.
Overall the Cougars are 15-3 overall and 3-0 in conference action. BYU takes on Air Force tomorrow at 10 a.m. before heading back home.
