PROVO -- After five games of tournament play, the BYU women's soccer team proved to be victorious over local competition.

As part of the fourth annual Indoor Tournament, BYU competed against Dixie State, Utah State, Idaho State, Weber State and UVSC. The Cougars won each of the five games that they played in.

"The Tournament was an outstanding showing for our team," said head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "The girls have been training very hard since January, and they were looking forward to the opportunity to compete against other schools."

In the first tournament of the spring season, the Cougars were able to play five games with two different teams.

In the first game of the tournament, BYU played against Dixie State and won 3-0. The first goal was made off a corner kick. Jessica Aquino made the goal with assists from both Katie Larkin and Kelsea Kakadelas. The second goal was an outside strike from Kakadelas. Aquino then went on to score the third goal of the game. BYU outshot Dixie 22-2.

In game two, BYU beat Weber State 3-0. Katie Fellows scored the first goal in the game with assists from Alyssa Vander Veur and Kristi Dow. On a breakaway, Larkin scored the second goal. Fellows scored the last goal of the game with an outside shot.

The second game against Weber State, BYU won 3-0. Kakadelas made the first goal. Kristi Dow made the second goal on a penalty shot after being taken down in the box. Aquino scored the last goal with an assist from Fellows.

In the cross-town contest against UVSC, BYU won 4-0. Vander Veur scored the first goal with an assist from Fellows. The second goal was an own goal scored by UVSC themselves with credit given to Ashleigh Jameson. Vander Veur went on to score the third goal of the game with assists from Larkin and Dow. Dow made the last goal of the game off a free kick.

In the last game of the tournament, BYU beat Dixie State 2-1. Becca Riddle scored the first goal of the game. Fellows then went on score the last goal of the game. The only goal given up during the tournament was given up after a free kick.

Up next, the Cougars will face Texas A&M March 22 in College Station.
