PROVO -- For the fourth time in 2008, Max Hall has been named Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading No. 14 BYU to a 38-24 victory over Air Force.
The Davey O’Brien semifinalist converted 28-of-37 passes for 354 yards and two touchdowns. The victory over the Falcons gives BYU a chance to capture a piece of the MWC title with a win over No. 7 Utah on Saturday.
Trailing 14-10 at the half, Hall was nearly perfect in the second half for the Cougars, completing 13-of-17 passes for 168 yards and the two touchdowns. Twelve of Hall’s 13 second-half completions resulted in first downs to keep drives alive. The junior from Mesa, Ariz., accounted for 354 of the Cougars’ 480 yards of total offense in the contest.
Hall's two touchdown passes against Air Force gives him 34 on the season and sets a new single-season MWC record previously held by current BYU quarterbacks coach Brandon Doman who passed for 33 touchdowns in 2001.
Through 11 games the All-America candidate is currently top 9 in the country in seven offensive categories.
