GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Zac Blair and Cameron Edens carded first-round 66's Thursday, leading the BYU men's golf team into a tie for third place at the Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Arizona.
Blair and Edens recorded an eagle on the sixth and tenth holes respectively, shooting six under par on the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Course. The 6-under 66 is a career best for both Edens and Blair.
Freshman Cole Ogden shot an even-par 72 on day one to move into a tie for 41st place, rebounding from a front-nine 38 to shoot a 34 on the back nine.
Senior Esteban Calisto and sophomore Adam Tebbs each shot one over par in round one and sit tied for 53rd place overall.
Round two of three starts Friday at 7:30 am, with the first Cougar teeing off at 8:15.
