GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- For the second-consecutive day, Zac Blair shot a career-low 66, remaining tied for first place overall and leading the BYU men's golf team into fifth place after two rounds at the Desert Shootout.

"We're starting to show signs of what we're capable of," said BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank. "We just hung in there today and we are in a good spot going into the final round."

Blair started round two below his first-round pace, but shot a 31 on the back nine to equal his first-day score of 66 and match his career-low.

"Zac played really well today," Brockbank said. "He is focused and shooting great among a tough field."

Senior Cameron Edens, who finished round one tied with Blair for first, carded a second-round 76 and now sits tied for 31st overall.

"It was nice to shoot well in round one because I have been struggling the last couple tournaments," said Edens. "Hopefully we will be able to go out tomorrow and get into a rhythm."

Improving on a first-round 72, freshman Cole Ogden recorded a 1-under 71 on day two to move up one spot into a tie for 40th place overall. Also improving in the second round was senior Esteban Calisto, who shot a 1-under 71 to move into a tie for 44th place.

With a two-round total of 147, sophomore Adam Tebbs is tied for 61st going into the final day.

The third and final day begins Saturday with shotgun start at 7:30 am.
