TUCSON, Ariz. -- The BYU men's golf team shot a 1-over 285 Friday in the second round of the Mountain West Conference Championships, moving into third place, just nine strokes off of the lead.

"We got behind a little bit to start off, but we just hung in there and worked hard," said BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank. "For us to come back like that and shoot one over today was good."

After a first-round 69 (-2), Zac Blair shot a 1-over 72 on day two, moving into 11th place overall. Cameron Edens is not far behind after carding a second-round 72 (+1) to move into a tie for 16th place.

Esteban Calisto and Cole Ogden round out the top-25, sitting tied for 20th and 25th respectively. Adam Tebbs posted a second-round 76 (+5) to move into a tie for 28th place.

"If we can get off to a good start tomorrow, you never know what can happen," Brockbank said.

The final round begins Saturday at 8 a.m. MT. Live scoring can be found by visiting www.golfstat.com.
