Player Notes
Haws finished with 20 points and two rebounds. He was a perfect 8 of 8 from the free throw line. The last time he was perfect from the free throw line with eight or more attempts was against Pepperdine in January. Haws fouled out of the game with 1:09 left. It was the first time in his career he has fouled out.
It was the 46th time Haws has scored 20 points in his career, which is good for seventh at BYU. He also scored in double digits for the 40th straight game, the seventh longest streak in school history.
Haws moved into the 16th spot in points in a season and seventh in free throws made in a season. He's also 17th in free throw attempts in a season.
Collinsworth finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. He has scored in double figures in his past 19 games.
Mika's two-game streak of double-doubles was snapped as he finished with four points, three rebounds and an assist.
Austin totaled seven rebounds, two points, two steals and a block.
Halford finished with 14 points, two assists and a block. Halford was 7 of 8 from the free throw line. He scored in double figures for the 13th time this season
Carlino scored 14 points in each half for a season-high 28 points. He added four assists, three rebounds and a steal.
Carlino passed Keena Young and Bruce Burton for 41st on the career scoring list with 1,093 points. His six 3-pointers moved Carlino into a tie with Andy Toolson for seventh in career 3-point field goals made.
Team Notes
Collinsworth, Halford, Haws, Austin and Mika started for the Cougars for the ninth straight game and 10th time overall. BYU is now 7-3 with those five starters.
Carlino, Haws, Halford and Collinsworth each scored in double digits. BYU is 8-5 this season when four players score in double figures.
Four Cougars had three fouls at the halfway point of the second half. While Haws fouled out, Mika, Austin and Luke Worthington finished with four fouls.
BYU started on a 9-0 run where Haws scored five, while Collinsworth and Halford each added two points. Pacifc needed almost three minutes to put its first points on the board. The Tigers followed with a 12-0 run over four minutes to take the lead. BYU countered Pacific's run with a 9-0 run of its own. From 10:19 to 7:22, Carlino scored five points, Haws two and Mika two to give BYU a 22-17 lead.

"Our guys were ready and we came out with a good plan. I think our guys had a lot of energy and got off to a great start and then they matched it. They got four or five offensive rebound putbacks to get themselves going. We let them get rolling. We didn't make them make some tough shots to get going."
"In that second half to get the lead and keep that lead, they were making shot after shot after shot and that was tough for us to match. We needed to get some stops. That's a lot to try to overcome, especially on a night when they shot the ball so well in the second half."
3-pointers:
"A lot of them are plays that they run that we've covered and we're maybe slow rotating sometimes. We zone a lot on the road, especially to stay out of foul trouble, because we're in so much foul trouble on the road. All those things add up to where they get multiple looks from the perimeter and tonight Gill, Harris and Short, all three of those guys end up with multiple threes. That's a difficult thing to defend when you've got three or four guys that are making them."
Carlino's first half:
"Matt really saved us offensively in the first half. We had a lot of our offensive guys that we rely on every night on the bench with foul trouble."
"The feel of this game was that it was coming down to a real battle in the last 20 minutes. We went into halftime with a little bit of a lead and it could've been a bigger lead if we'd had managed it a little better and maybe hit some foul shots at the end of the first half. Nevertheless, we knew there would be a point in that second half where someone was going to go. For us, it never really happened."
"We never got a good offensive flow. We had a hard time scoring at the rim. They did a really good job of pushing us out and they were really physical. We drove it to the basket and they rotated really well and made difficult physical shots at the rim and then it turns into a perimeter game where you have to make shots and they just made more than we did."
"They made big plays. It felt a little bit like the Wichita State game where they made all the big plays. To their credit, but we've just got to be better on the road."
"We came back against Portland, but we didn't win the game. I think this team thinks anything is possible at the end of games, but we've just got to keep the lead because we had the lead to start the second half. We've had the lead in all these games it seems like. We've got to keep the lead and play better."
"There were some tough calls. They were going at our bigs. On the road, we've got to realize and stop penetration because that's how we get in trouble with our bigs. Every one of our starters had two fouls to start the second half and that affected our aggressiveness on defense."

"Stop the 3-point line and rebound. I'm sure they out rebounded us, so we lost both and that's what it comes down to."
