WAHIAWA, Hawaii – BYU women’s golf finished its first round of golf in third place at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at the Leilehua Golf Course, Tuesday.

“I thought we played solid,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. “We could have made a few more birdies, but we did what we needed to do in the first round to do well, and we're sitting in a good position overall.”

The Cougars shot one-over-par for a third place finish after the first 18 holes. Hawaii holds the lead shooting one-under-par and Sacramento State is in second at an even par.

Senior Kendra Dalton leads the team tied for fourth place overall as she shot one-under-par on the course. Both Rose Huang and Alexandra White are tied for seventh place with an even par.

Lauren Atkinson is competing as an individual and is tied for 11th place shooting one-over-par.

Brooklyn Hocker finished the first round shooting two-over-par to find herself tied for 14th place. Tied for 23rd place, Aiko Leong sits at three-over-par on the day.

"It had been raining a lot, so they shortened the course making it easier to score which is why there were a lot of good scores from other teams today," coach Roberts said. "Tomorrow we're looking for a cleaner performance and to take advantage of the conditions here."

The second round of play at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational begins Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. HT.
