LAS VEGAS — Former BYU All-American running back Tyler Allgeier headlines five members of last year's BYU football team seeking NFL opportunities this weekend when the 2022 NFL Draft takes place Thursday through Saturday in Las Vegas. The three-day event will be televised live on ABC, ESPN and the NFL Network.

Hosted this year in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, the 87th annual draft begins with the first round on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT). Selections continue on Friday at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT) with the second and third rounds before concluding Saturday with rounds 4-7 starting at noon ET (9 a.m. PT). Undrafted prospects will then be available to sign as free agents on Saturday following the draft.

Last year with a much larger graduating class than this season, BYU had more than a dozen players vying for a chance to enter the NFL and saw 13 players receive NFL deals over the draft weekend.  Headlined by quarterback Zach Wilson going No. 2 overall to the New York Jets, BYU had five players drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, the most by the Cougars since 2002.

Over the course of this year's three-day draft, Allgeier and the BYU prospects will learn what opportunities await them in the NFL.  Allgeier is joined by center James Empey, receivers Samson Nacua and Neil Pau'u and defensive lineman Uriah Leiataua as the five players from last year's team seeking to move on to the NFL. The Cougars are coming off a back-to-back top-20 seasons under Kalani Sitake, finishing 10-3 last year to earn a No. 19 final ranking after going 11-2 in 2020 to finish No. 11.

Historically, the NFL has drafted a former BYU player 148 times while another 202 former Cougars have received NFL opportunities as undrafted free agents following the annual draft. Information about how to follow the 2022 NFL Draft is included below.
