Cougars in ninth after 36 holes at Sam Golden Invitational

CORINTH, Texas — BYU women’s golf sits in ninth place after posting a 3-under-par total during the opening 36 holes of the Sam Golden Invitational at Oakmont Country Club on Monday.

The Cougars opened the 2023-24 season with a 3-under 285 in round one before posting an even-par 288 in round two.

Incoming freshman Lilly DeNuzio led BYU on day one with rounds of 68-72—140. DeNuzio carded six birdies and two bogeys in her first round as a Cougar to sit in a tie for fourth through 18 holes. She followed up her 4-under showing in round one with an even-par 72 to sit in a tie for 20th going into the final round.

Juniors Lila Galeai and Adeline Anderson sit in a tie for 42nd after 36 holes at even par after carding rounds of 73-71—144 and 71-73—144 respectively. Washington State transfer Lily McCauley is one shot back at one over following scores of 73-72—145 on day one.

Sophomore Sunbin Seo sits in a tie for 49th at two over after back-to-back 73s on day one.

The Cougars will tee it up in the final round of the Sam Golden Invitational beginning at 8:30 a.m. CDT tomorrow. BYU will play with Tulane and new Big 12 foe TCU.
