Cougars finish in tie for sixth; Z. Jones and Kim with top 20 finishes at Pauma Valley

BYU men’s golf finished the Pauma Valley Invitational in sixth place with a final round of even par on Tuesday. The Cougars carded rounds of 289, 279 and 284 to finish at an even-par 852 for the 54-hole tournament.

PAUMA VALLEY, California — BYU men’s golf finished the Pauma Valley Invitational in sixth place with a final round of even par on Tuesday. The Cougars carded rounds of 289, 279 and 284 to finish at an even-par 852 for the 54-hole tournament.

 

Freshman Peter Kim (75-66-71–212) and junior Zac Jones (68-71-73–212) tied for 17th at 1-under-par. Max Brenchley (T-44, 70-77-70–217; +4), Keanu Akina (T-44, 76-67-74–217; +4) and Cooper Jones (T65, 77-75-70–222; +9) round out the scoring for the Cougar squad. 

Fellow Big 12 Conference members Oklahoma and Oklahoma State completed the tournament in the top five, with Oklahoma State’s Jonas Baumgartner taking the individual title. 

The Cougars will tee it up again at the Pathway to Progression Tournament hosted by The PGA TOUR partnered with the Golf Coaches Association of America. The tournament will be played at the Silverado Resort North Course in Napa Valley, California, on Mar. 25-26.
