Stanford, Calif. — BYU men’s and women’s distance crews earned 10 new personal bests or debuts in the 800-meters to conclude competition on the Cobb Track at the Stanford Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Men’s Stanford Recap Day Two

Day two of competition for the men was headlined by true freshman Carter Cutting in the 800m who ran 1:50.54 across the finish line. Cutting was joined in the event by Jake Orr, Hayden Gray and Joe Lighthall. Both Orr and Lighthall took second in their respective heats.

“We had some good things happen this weekend,” said BYU director of track and field Ed Eyestone on the two-day meet. “It’s the first time we’ve come here and we had some really good performances. I’m proud of Carter Cutting in the 1500m and the 800m. He was impressive and ran strong races. I thought Wyatt Haughton and James Corrigan in the 3000m steeplechase did well. They both improved upon their times last week which was great. Joey Nokes ran a very solid 10,000m in the rain for a nice regional mark. We got some things accomplished and we are looking forward to the rest of the season.”

Women’s Stanford Recap Day Two

Eight Cougars achieved a new personal best or debuted in the women's 800m on Saturday.

Kyrstie Solomon took the next fastest time for the Cougars in 2:07.08 to win her heat. She was followed by Lexi Goff who finished in 2:09.74. Jacey Farmer finished next for BYU in 2:10.10. Kylie Olsen debuted in the event with 2:10.22. Alona Haymore ran  2:12.59, followed by Grace Hutchison in 2:12.95 and Elyse Jessen in 2:16.33, all three of which debuted as well in the event.
