PROVO, Utah — No. 37 BYU women's tennis defeated No. 65 Kansas State 4-1 on Friday for its seventh consecutive victory and third straight win in Big 12 play to start the conference season.
“I’m super proud of our girls today," said assistant coach Gabby Curtis. "We were ready for a battle and knew we needed to start strong with energy and execute our plan. Each player took care of their court from the start. It’s great to see the mental and physical preparation paying off.”
The Cougars (11-1, 3-0 Big 12) have not lost in Big 12 matches, with No. 74 nationally ranked Bobo Huang improving to 10-0 in singles this season.
Sophomore Tina Li improved to 8-3 in singles with her win, and junior Kendall Kovick notched her sixth victory of the year.
Li and Kara Wheatley continued their dominance in doubles, remaining unbeaten this season and moving to 9-0.
The doubles team of senior Emilee Astle and Kovick earned their sixth victory of the season, improving their record to 5-2.
BYU has now won seven matches in a row.
