IRVING, Texas — Thirty-nine BYU swim and dive athletes were recognized with 2024 Winter Academic All-Big 12 Honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.
BYU women’s swim and dive saw 24 athletes honored, 23 of which garnered First Team status. Kansas joined the Cougars in leading all Big 12 women’s swim and dive programs with 24 winter academic honorees.
BYU diver Hailey Johnson and swimmer Victoria Schreiber each hold a 4.0 GPA in bioinformatics and microbiology, respectively. Johnson and Schreiber were two of just 45 Big 12 winter sport athletes to achieve a 4.0, placing them in the top seven-percent of the league's 604 honored on the winter academic team.
Fifteen BYU men’s swimmers and divers were recognized with 11 on the First Team.
Student athletes must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 and participate in at least 20 percent of scheduled contests for nomination to the Winter Academic All-Big 12 Team. First Team honorees are those who achieved a GPA of 3.20 or higher.
This marks the second academic honor garnered by BYU swim and dive in as many days. Both men's and women's programs were designated 2024 Spring Scholar All-America teams by the Collegiate Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on June 24.
