Ed Eyestone, BYU Director of Track and Field
"This was a great day at the track. Coach Arrhenius had our throwers on point as Danny Bryant had two clutch personal bests and Cameron Bates nailed his second throw for First Team All-America. James Corrigan ran a nice personal best to win the second heat and set him up as one of the men to watch in the final. I'm proud of our 4x400-meter relay team for getting some good experience in the semi-finals and for our true freshman Wyatt Haughton for coming so far this season."
Danny Bryant, Fourth Place in Shot Put
“I feel amazing. It seems to be a pattern that I followed to earn a new personal best on my last throw. I did that two weeks ago in Arkansas and again tonight. It was an amazing feeling to go over that 20-meter barrier. Going in, I had gone to regionals every year and felt I choked the past two years. When I made it to nationals this year, I was just psyched and ready to bring everything I had. It felt amazing tonight.”
Niklaus Arrhenius, BYU Throws Coach
"Danny proved once again that he can compete when it matters most. After struggling on his first two attempts, he was able to throw a new personal best to put himself into seventh and be able to get three more throws. After two more throws where he struggled, he was able to put together the throw we’ve been waiting for and get over the 20-meter barrier. That was huge. I’m so proud of him and happy that all the hard training we put in resulted in that outcome."
