Hutchins earns First Team All-America Honors in the 10,000-meters

Jenna Hutchins placed sixth in the 10,000-meters on Thursday night at Hayward Field, running 32:44.05 to earn First Team All-America honors and move to No. 2 all-time at BYU.

EUGENE, Ore. Jenna Hutchins placed sixth in the 10,000-meters on Thursday night at Hayward Field, running 32:44.05 to earn First Team All-America honors and move to No. 2 all-time at BYU.

Hutchins improved on her previous personal best in the event by nearly eight seconds on her way to becoming the Cougars' first First Team All-American in the event since Cecily Lemmon Lew in 2008.

Taylor Lovell placed fourth in her heat of the 3000m steeplechase, running 9:54.10 to earn an automatic qualification to the final. Lovell's qualification marks the fifth-consecutive outdoor season that a BYU woman has qualified for the 3000m steeplechase final. The freshman from Gilbert, Arizona will race Saturday at 3:54 p.m. MT.

Rebekah Erikson placed 11th in the pole vault as she cleared 4.30m/14-1.25, just one centimeter off of her BYU school record. The junior from Spokane, Washington earned Second Team All-America honors. 

Riley Chamberlain moved up to No. 4 all-time on the BYU record board as she ran a personal-best 4:10.24 in the 1500m. Chamberlain placed 13th overall in the field, earning Second Team All-America honors. The sophomore from Loomis, California will not advance to Saturday's final. 

Jaslyn Gardner placed 15th overall in the women's 100m as she clocked 11.24: the second-fastest wind-legal time of her career. Gardner is just the second BYU woman to ever compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the event (Windy Jorgensen, 28th, 1997) The senior from Enterprise, Utah earned Second Team All-America honors; however, she will not advance to Saturday's final.
