BYU participates in Big 12 Football Media Days in Las Vegas

BYU will participate in the 2024 Big 12 Football Media Days this week at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.

LAS VEGAS — BYU participated in the 2024 Big 12 Football Media Days Wednesday at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Among the first conference media days of the 2024 college football season, Big 12 Football Media Days brought together the head coaches and several players from each Big 12 school to meet with media members from all over the country. 

The Big 12 Conference is now comprised of 16 institutions, with the latest additions of Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah for the upcoming 2024 season following the departure of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC. Last year, the Big 12 welcomed BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston. The schools join Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia. The league is an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics conference that now encompasses 10 states, and four time zones. 

The Big 12 enters its 29th year as one of the nation’s premier conferences in college athletics under the leadership of Commissioner Brett Yormark. Since joining the Conference in August 2022, Yormark has elevated the Big 12 to new heights, emphasizing marketing, brand building and instilling an innovative strategy that has resonated across the college athletics landscape.  
  
The Big 12 began play in 1996 and is the home of 87 team NCAA national championships, and 764 individual national champions. The Big 12 Conference office is located in Irving, Texas.  

BYU head coach Kalani Sitake was joined by defensive end Tyler Batty, cornerback Jakob Robinson, offensive lineman Connor Pay and wide receivers Chase Roberts and Darius Lassiter to represent BYU's team on Wednesday. BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe will also attend the event. 

On Tuesday, eight teams took the stage, including TCU, Kansas State, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, Utah, Arizona State, Oklahoma State and Iowa State. Joining BYU on Wednesday was be Colorado, Kansas, West Virginia, UCF, Baylor, Houston and Arizona. 

Fans were able to follow the telecast coverage of Big 12 Football Media Days on ESPNU and Big 12 Now on ESPN+ with coach and player interviews each day. 

BYUtv was also on site to conduct interviews and prodce special BYU Sports Nation coverage each day at 11 a.m. CT (10 a.m. MT). National and local radio broadcasts also conducted interviews from Allegiant Stadium with live coverage throughout the two-day event.
