IRVING, Texas Fourty-four BYU track and field athletes were recognized with 2024 Spring Academic All-Big 12 Honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.

BYU women's track and field saw 27 athletes honored, 25 of which earned First Team status.

The women tied for the second-most honors in the conference with Kansas State at 27. 

Seven Cougar women hold a GPA of at least 3.90. Sprinter Cate Phipps Louis and distance runner Allie Warner each boast a 3.99. Outdoor pole vault school record-holder Rebekah Erikson holds a 3.97 GPA followed by 10,000-meter First Team All-American Jenna Hutchins at 3.96. Maren Garnett and Anastaysia Davis each hold a 3.94 and Linsdey Middleton 3.93.

Seventeen men were recognized with 16 on the First Team.  

Four-hundred meter specialist Trey Jackson led the men with a 3.89 GPA. Distance runner Luke Grundvig holds a 3.82 followed by First Team All-American miler Lucas Bons with a 3.77. Javelin throwers Brinton Paulson and Chase Clement hold GPAs of 3.78 and 3.76, respectively. 

Student athletes must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 and participate in at least 20 percent of scheduled contests for nomination to the Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team. First Team honorees are those who achieved a GPA of 3.20 or higher. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

BYU completes the 2023-24 athletic year with 197 total academic all-conference honorees, 193 of which were awarded by the Big 12. Women’s track and field (27), women’s swim and dive (24) and football (23) led all sports in academic recognitions. After 57 and 58 Big 12 honorees in Fall and Winter, respectively, the Cougars’ Spring all-academic teams totaled 78 athletes.

Bella Folino of women’s soccer, Eliza Millar-Crossman of women’s gymnastics and Chloe Temples of softball earned the Cougars' most prestigious individual academic accolades in 2023-24. Folino was recognized with the NCAA’s Elite 90 Award at the College Cup while Millar-Crossman and Temples claimed Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year awards in their respective sports.
