Wayment ran 9:10.72 in her Olympic debut. The four-time NCAA champion raced in the first of three heats with the top-five in each heat advancing to the final. Section one deemed to be the fastest as the top-six also had the top-six fastest times overall. The On Cloud professional is one of two members of team USA to advance as Valerie Constein will also race in Tuesday's final at 1:14 p.m. MT.

"I think I have kind of let go of expectations a lot" said Wayment. "I'm here to not put a cap or a ceiling on what I am and not put up any expectations. I want to give myself the best chance and make myself proud, whatever that looks like."

“I am super proud of Courtney and Whittni for moving through to the finals. The plan was to come here and race their hearts out. They did that on the biggest stage. I am really proud and excited for both finals.”
