LUBBOCK, Texas – BYU women’s golf (287-291-290–868) finished third at the Red Raider Invitational on Wednesday with a top-3 individual finish from Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan (71-71-68–210).
For the second week in a row, sophomore Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan has carded a top-10 finish with scores of 71-71-68–210, going 6-under on the tournament. She finished tied for second in the field of 88 individuals. This helps her record three new career records: her career low 18-hole score, career low 54-hole score and best finish to date.
Big 12 foe and host Texas Tech (289-282-285–856) took the title after they shot 8-under and five shots ahead of second place UNLV (287-287-287–861).
Lilly DeNunzio finished tied for 14th after she even-parred with scores of 70-72-74–216. This top-15 finish marks a career high for DeNunzio, beating her previous best finish of T-22.
Senior Alexa Udom finished tied for 16th, carding scores of 74-72-72–218 going 2-over.
Adeline (Anderson) Wach completed this week’s tournament tied for 34th off a 8-over 224, with scores of 72, 76 and 76.
Junior Sunbin Seo (74-76-79–229) finished tied for 50th, after she shot 13-over.
Next up, the Cougs head to Arkansas from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 for the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. Live scoring will be uploaded on Scoreboard and the tournament will be broadcasted on Golf Channel at 2:30 MST each day.
