The Cougars scored 29 points in their first-place finish. Five of BYU's eight competing women primarily compete in the 800-meters in track and field. Friday's race was also a cross country career debut for Lexi Goff,  Kylie Olsen and Elyse Jessen.

Coming from a middle-distance background, I have never raced longer than an 800m. Cross country is tough and I now have an even deeper respect for everyone who does the sport. Most of us found out last minute that we were going to race, so it was more about having fun. Any chance I have to line up and rep the 'Y' is a good day.
