Game 1: BYU 3 | UC Davis 1

A three-run fourth inning that featured Lindy Milkowski’s second home run in as many days fueled the Cougars (11-4, 0-0 Big 12) to the game one victory.

Starting right-hander Kate Dahle went four innings, giving up just one run while fanning three before lefty Jada Villegas came on in relief, pitching two innings of no-hit shutout ball.

Player Highlights

UC Davis got two runners on to open the game and attempted a double steal that Milkowski and shortstop Hailey Morrow sniffed out. The Aggies would load the bases later in the inning, but left them full after a foul out.

BYU went down in order in the first two innings. UC Davis earned a leadoff single in the top of the third inning, advancing that runner to third before the Cougars picked up the final out to keep the contest scoreless.

Lauren Flanders singled in the home half of the third, BYU's first hit of the game, but was caught stealing the next batter. The Aggies threatened again in the fourth inning, leading off the frame with a double, but a fielder's choice nabbed their lead runner at third.

The Cougars finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning on Morrow's double to left center and a single by Ilove'a Brittingham that brought her home. Milkowski then homered on a full count, launching a ball above the scoreboard past the left field fence for a 3-0 BYU lead.

UC Davis got a run back in the fifth on two singles, a fielder's choice and a sacrifice fly, making it 3-1, Cougars.

Both teams came up empty in the fifth and sixth innings, paving way for Kaysen Korth to earn a one-inning save in the seventh, her third of the season. Korth worked around a single and struck out three Aggie batters swinging to close out BYU's game one victory.

Game 2: BYU 3 | San Jose State 0

Korth tossed a complete game shutout as the Cougars (12-4, 0-0 Big 12) broke up a no hitter in the fifth, plating a pair of runs to go along with an insurance run in the sixth. BYU was outhit by SJSU, five to three, but benefitted from one Spartan error.

Player Highlights

San Jose State picked up a one-out single in the top of the first inning before a line out double play got BYU out of the inning. Korth hit a batter and surrendered another single in the second before proceeding to retire 11 Spartan batters in a row.

BYU drew three walks in the first four innings but was unable to move those runners past second base until the fifth frame, when Lily Owens roped a double that one-hopped off the left center fence, the Cougars' first hit of the contest.

Then with two outs and Owens at third, Flanders reached on an infielder error to score Owens. Morrow hammered a double of her own to left center, bringing Flanders sliding home all the way from first for a 2-0 lead.

The Spartans threatened in the top of the sixth, loading the bases on a trio of bunt singles. An infield fly and groundout kept them stranded, however, preserving BYU's two-run lead.

Milkowski opened the bottom of the sixth inning with a full count walk, with Miranda Mansfield pinch running for the catcher. One batter later, Maddie Udall-Woolley doubled to left, scoring an insurance run in Mansfield, who also came around from first, giving the Cougars a 3-0 advantage.

Korth made quick work of SJSU in the seventh, knocking the Spartans down on two swinging strikeouts and a ground out to earn BYU a shutout win and doubleheader sweep.
