THE RIVALRY
This season’s matchup is the first with the Cougars and Utes as conference foes since their last Mountain West Conference meeting in February 2011. Both BYU men’s and women’s teams are seeking their first victories in Salt Lake City since sweeping the Utes 161-139 and 156-143, respectively, in the 2011 matchup.
BYU men’s swim and dive topped Utah 181-113 a season ago in Provo and looks to win back-to-back meets over the Utes for the first time since 2011-2012.
MEET FOE
The Utah men have dual meet wins over Arizona, UNLV, Colorado State, UCSB, Denver and Wyoming with just two losses on the road to SMU and Pitt. The Utah women fell at Arizona and Pitt but have taken dual meet wins over UNLV, Colorado Mesa, UCSB, Denver and Wyoming.
LAST TIME OUT
Both BYU men’s and women’s programs have seen success in recent weeks with both topping Denver in a dual meet in Provo while the men beat UCSB in a dual meet along with a first-place finish in a tri-meet at Air Force.
BYU men’s dive not only helped the Cougars win the tri-meet in Colorado Springs but scored 123 points to the Utah Dive Invite on Jan. 10-11 and overtook Missouri to win the Air Force Diving Invitational Jan. 30-Feb. 1.
