PHOENIX, Ariz. — Despite a close doubles contest and a near win against a top-ranked singles opponent, the Cougars suffered a 4-0 defeat against the Sun Devils.

Order of finish: 2,3,1

The first doubles match went to Arizona, but Levelston and Tullis kept BYU in the game with a 6-4 win. Huang and Tan played their way to a 7-point tiebreaker but lost 9-7, giving the Sun Devils the doubles point.

The Cougars fought in some close first sets, with a 7-5 win for Levelston against No. 40 Svetac, a first-set tiebreak win by Smith, and a 6-4 win by Tan. However, Arizona still took the match with three-straight singles wins in two sets each.
