KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan and Alexa Udom were named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators in the women’s at-large category on Tuesday morning.
Sophomore Barragan and Senior Udom were recognized as Academic All-District Women’s At-Large honorees, both of whom have shown excellence on the course and in the classroom.
To qualify, a student-athlete must hold a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, and must have participated in at least 70 percent of the team’s scoring or competed in the conference championship lineup.
Hailing from Morelia, Mexico, Barragan earned a 3.68 as a Pre-Business major in her second academic year at BYU. The sophomore led the team in nine of 12 tournaments, highlighted by her first-career individual win at the USF Invitational. Barragan holds a season scoring average of 71.50.
Udom received a 3.66 as a biology major in her fourth academic year as a Cougar. The senior recorded her best-career finish at the Causeway Invitational, where she finished fourth.
