EUGENE, Ore. – Meghan Hunter finished fifth in the 800-meter division at the USATF Outdoor Championships on Sunday afternoon at Hayward Field.
The Provo, Utah, native got off to a strong start, clocking 1:00.84 through the first 400m to sit second in the pack. After briefly losing ground following a collision, Hunter recovered and closed well to finish fifth in 2:00.53.
Hunter advanced to the final after running 2:01.95 in Thursday’s preliminary round and 1:58.42 in Friday’s semifinal, where she finished just 0.33 seconds behind the winner.
Fellow recent BYU graduate Maren Garnett competed in the pole vault final but was unable to clear 4.38/14-4.5.
