FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – BYU women’s golf shot a 17-over par 305 to sit in fourth place after day one of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Monday at Blessings Golf Club.
“We were just solid all around,” said head coach Carrie Roberts. “We left several putts out there, but the girls stayed composed and played the course as it needed to be played.”
Host Arkansas is in control of the top spot with a 2-over-par 290, with three players in the top five. Mississippi State holds second alone with a 9-over-par 297, with Louisville sitting in third at 15-over-par, two shots ahead of the Cougars, who posted 15-over-par day one total. Kent State rounds out the top five at 18-over par.
Junior Berlin Long and sophomore Ava Schroeder both shot 3-over par 75s to sit in a tie for eighth. Long finished her round with two birdies in her final four holes. Schroeder carded 15 pars, the most in the field, and made the fewest bogeys on the team with three.
Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul ended her round sharing 15th by carding a 5-over-par 77. The sophomore made three birdies on the day.
Junior Whitney Banz tied for 26th after carding a 6-over 78 on Monday, and senior Lily McCauley shot 7-over to hold a share of 38th.
