FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – BYU women’s golf (305-300–605) posted a 12-over-par total in round two to stay in fourth place after 36 holes of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday. 

“The girls made a few more birdies today that set us up to have a lower round,” said head coach Carrie Roberts.

The Cougars were able to make nine birdies on the back nine to cap off their round. BYU bested its day one score by five strokes to post a 29-over-par total through 36 holes.

Host Arkansas (290-285–575) leads the field at 1-under par. The Razorbacks were the only team to break par on the day and post an under-par 36-hole total. Kent State (306-290–596) carded a 2-over-par second round to jump up three spots into second place at 20-over. Mississippi State (297-302–599), which sits at 23-over par, moved into third with the Cougars (305-300–605) six back at 29-over in fourth. Kansas State (308-299–607) rounds out the top five at 31-over par, two shots behind BYU.

For the second straight day, Berlin Long (75-75–150) and Ava Schroeder (75-75–150) shared a spot on the leaderboard, a tie for 11th, after shooting 3-over on the day. Towards the end of her round, Long made three birdies in a row on holes 15, 16 and 17. After making no birdies yesterday, Schroeder carded three on Tuesday. 

Lily McCauley (79-72–151) was the best performing Cougar in round two after shooting even par. McCauley jumped 25 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 13th. 

“It was nice to have Lily McCauley shoot a good round,” said Roberts.

Whitney Banz (78-78–156) and Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul (77-79–156) are tied for 26th at a total 12-over par. Banz carded a 6-over par 78 on the day and was the only BYU player to shoot even par or better on the front nine.

The Cougars will tee off in the final round at 7:45 a.m. MST on Wednesday. Follow live scoring on Scoreboard
