PROVO, Utah – BYU head coach Trent Pratt, in conjunction with the Big 12 Conference, today announced the 2026 Cougar baseball schedule that includes 22 home games at Miller Park as well as 32 road contests across eight states.
The 54-game schedule features 30 games versus 10 of the other 13 conference teams that sponsor baseball. League baseball opponents Kansas State, TCU and UCF are not on the Cougars’ regular-season conference schedule in 2026.
In addition to 15 conference games, the home schedule includes a three-game, non-conference series with Cal Baptist and in-state midweek games with UVU and Utah Tech.
BYU will face nine teams during the 2026 season who competed in the 2025 NCAA DI Baseball Championship, including conference foes Arizona, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and West Virginia, as well as UVU and Westen Kentucky. Two of the Cougars' 2026 opponents—Arizona and West Virginia—were ranked in the top 25 of the final 2025 USA Today Coaches Poll.
“Great teams are built by playing great competition, and to that point I really like our 2026 schedule,” said BYU baseball head coach Trent Pratt. “The Big 12 is a challenging baseball conference. Every team is very competitive, and you have to come ready to compete every night. Early games at NCAA-regional-qualifier Western Kentucky, as well as the two-week stretch through California, will help us prepare for conference play. In addition, first-time trips to Baylor and Houston will be great experiences for our baseball team.”
The Cougars begin the year with a trip to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to take on Western Kentucky in a four-game set, Feb. 13-16. The Hilltoppers are coming off a 46-14 season and a trip to the NCAA Baseball Championship. The two universities have met just twice in baseball, 1975 and 1987, splitting the all-time series 1-1.
BYU will then head west to sunny San Diego to compete in the Tony Gwynn Legacy Classic hosted by San Deigo State, Feb. 19-21. The opponents for that tournament will be announced later.
The following week, BYU heads to Long Beach State for two games with the Dirtbags and two games with Washington State, Feb. 25-28. The Cougars and LBS will play the bookend games on Feb. 25 and 28 with two BYU-WSU games scheduled for Feb. 26-27. Long Beach holds a slight 9-8-1 edge in its series with BYU that dates back to 1956, while Washington State leads the all-time series with the Cougars in blue 26-19 dating back to 1971.
On March 5-7, BYU opens its 2026 home schedule with a three-game series versus California Baptist from Riverside before hosting Utah Tech for a midweek game on March 10. Both universities are from the Western Athletic Conference. BYU has never faced Cal Baptist in baseball but holds a 16-4 record over Utah Tech dating back to the first meeting in St. George in 1953.
The Cougar baseball team opens Big 12 play the following week, March 12-14, with a home series against Cincinnati, who finished the 2025 conference season in eighth place with a 33-26 (16-14) record. The Bearcats hold a 2-4 series advantage, but the Cougars won the series 2-1 in Cincinnati last year.
Following a March 17 game at Utah Tech in St. George, the Cougars return to Big 12 play with a road trip to Morgantown to take on West Virginia, the 2025 Big 12 regular-season champion. The Mountaineers were 44-16 (19-9) in 2025 and captured the BYU series 2-1.
BYU returns to Utah for a non-conference game with the Utes in Salt Lake City on March 24. The midweek contest will be the 385th meeting between the rival schools, with BYU holding a 254-129-1 series advantage. The teams played four times last season, splitting the series 2-2.
Up next, BYU welcomes Oklahoma State to the friendly confines of Miller Park on March 25-28. The Cowboys finished seventh in the conference last season with a record of 30-25 (15-12). OSU has never played in Provo, but the two universities have meet 22 times since 1979, with the Cowboys holding a 17-5 advantage.
The Cougars wrap up a four-game home stand with a midweek, nonconference game on March 31 versus Kansas State. The Wildcats hold a 9-6 overall record over BYU, including a 2-1 series win in Lawrence last season.
BYU then hits the road for eight straight contests, including a three-game series at Baylor, April 2-4, a midweek game at UVU on April 7, three conference games at Houston, April 9-11, and a midweek game at Lamar in Beaumont, Texas on April 13.
Baylor finished tenth last season in the Big 12 at 33-22 (13-17), while Houston was 11th at 30-25 (12-17). BYU is 2-1 all-time versus Houston and is 1-4 against Baylor since the first meeting in 2009.
BYU returns to Miller Park to host Arizona State, March 16-18. The Sun Devils swept the regular-season series in Phoenix last year, but BYU upset 5-seed ASU, 2-0, in the first round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The two universities have a long competitive history dating to 1967 when both were members of the WAC. ASU holds a 49-14 advantage over BYU all-time.
Utah Tech then visits Provo on April 20 for the final instalment of the two-game season series. The Cougars are 11-1 all-time versus the Trailblazers in Provo.
Up next is a four-game swing through the Grand Canyon State, beginning with a three-game series at Arizona, April 23-25 in Tucson. The Wildcats are coming off a 44-21 (18-12) season that included a Big 12 Tournament title, the Chapel Hill Super Regional title and a trip to the College World Series, where the Wildcats finished the year ranked No. 7 in the nation. Arizona leads the overall series 25-10 dating back to 1963.
Following a midweek game on April 27 at Grand Canyon in Phoenix, BYU returns to Big 12 play by hosting Utah at Miller Park, April 30-May 2. The Utes finished last in the conference in 2026 with a 21-29 (8-22) record. The Cougars are 130-55 in Provo against Utah dating back to the first-recorded modern game in 1948.
The final road trip of the year starts with a midweek game at UNLV on May 5 and concludes with a three-game series at Texas Tech, May 7-9. As former conference foes, the Rebels and the Cougars have met 150 times on the diamond, with BYU holding a slight overall 78-72 record and UNLV a narrow 52-50 advantage in Las Vegas.
Texas Tech finished ninth in the Big 12 last season with a 20-33 (13-17) record. The Cougars and Red Raiders have met just 14 times since 1998, with TTU holding a 9–5 advantage.
On May 12, UVU will make the 5.2-mile trek along Universe Avenue to Miller Park to face BYU in game two of the season series. The Cougars are 38-11 versus UVU since the first meeting in 2005. BYU swept the season series in 2025, 2-0.
Kansas wraps up the regular-season Big 12 schedule with a trip to Provo, May 14-16. The two schools have met 18 times in baseball dating back to 2014, with Kansas holding a 11-7 advantage in the series record. The Jayhawks finished second in the Big 12 last season with a 43-17 (20-10) record.
The 2026 Big 12 Baseball Tournament presented by Allstate will move to Surprise Stadium in Sunrise, Arizona, May 20-23. Located 25 miles northwest of Phoenix, Sunrise Stadium is the spring training home to the Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals. It was recently ranked No. 1 in USA Today’s Best Spring Training Facility rankings. The 2026 conference baseball championship will feature 12-teams in a single-elimination format.
