PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s tennis continued play at the ITA Mountain Regional on Wednesday, advancing multiple pairs and individuals in both doubles and singles competition.

In doubles, all three Cougar pairs won their Round of 32 matches. Sage Bergeson and YuYun Chen defeated Wyoming’s Kochelaevskaia and Abriola, 8-7 (7-5). Bella Lewis and Karina Mohamed topped Utah State’s Paterova and Halvorsen, 8-7 (7-0) while Gracie Levelston and Kendall Kovick earned an 8-4 win over UNLV’s Ciz-Czako and Sokolvak.

Levelston and Kovick advanced again in the Round of 16 with an 8-4 victory against Air Force’s Mavor and Kang. Lewis and Mohamed also moved on after defeating Nevada’s Charrier and Robinson, 8-7 (7-5). Bergeson and Chen fell to Idaho’s Schraeder and Matthews, 8-3.

In singles, Kovick defeated UNLV’s Adi Bitton, 6-2, 6-4. Mohamed earned a 6-2, 7-5 win over NAU’s Andrea Noguera and Levelston defeated Nevada’s Silvia Maria Costache, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1.

Chen was narrowly defeated by Utah’s Emma Valetta, 7-6 (7-6), 4-6 while Bergeson fell to Denver’s Hana Becirovic Novak, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).

Play continues Thursday in Provo with main draw singles and doubles action.
