Both the men’s and women’s programs are coming off first-place finishes at the CMU Intermountain Shootout in October.

Last year’s outing against the Rebels saw the men’s team secure a 173-127 victory, while the women’s team came up short in a 162-138 defeat.

Meet the Foes

UNLV’s first meet of the season took place in Tempe, Arizona, against Arizona State, where both the men’s and women’s teams were defeated by the Sun Devils. Despite the loss, UNLV saw strong performances from divers Chelsey Dorosh and Evan Stingley. Additionally, freshmen Rachel Wigginton and Luke Guerrero swam well and will pose challenges for the Cougars.

The UNLV men’s program won its fifth straight WAC title last season, narrowly beating California Baptist by 26 points. The women’s program finished second in last year’s Mountain West championships, earning three medals and setting two program records in the process.

Friday’s meeting between the Cougars and Rebels marks the fifth year in a row the two programs have competed.

BYU

October’s competition saw standout performances from swimmers Max Kleinman, Mattia Reina, Lucy Warnick and Ana Loveridge

Kleinman finished the men’s 100 individual medley at 47.81, the fastest time in program history. Freshman Brinley Knoll competed in the women’s 100 individual medley at the CMU Intermountain Shootout and finished with a time of 57.51, the second fastest in BYU history.

Divers Marti Llop and Brooklyn Goeckeritz each took first in the three-meter event and will look to continue their excellence on the diving board.

Following Friday’s competition, the Cougars' swim teams will travel to North Carolina for the Wolfpack Elite Invite on Nov. 20th through the 22nd. The dive teams will compete in the USC Invitational in Los Angeles on the same dates.
