HOLY MOLY
Five Cougars scored in double figures as BYU picked up its second win of the season on Saturday with a 98-53 victory over Holy Cross in front of 17,918 fans at the Marriott Center.

The Cougars scored the opening 10 points of the game and never looked back as they led by 33 at halftime. Richie Saunders scored a season-high 20 points as the senior went 7-of-10 from the field, 2-of-4 from three and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. It was the sixth time that Saunders has scored 20-plus at home during his four-year collegiate career.

AJ Dybantsa filled the stat sheet with 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a block. Like Saunders, the freshman was 7-of-10 from the field and made all three of his free throws after going 2-of-7 from the charity stripe in the season opener against Villanova. Robert Wright III (15), Kennard Davis Jr. (12) and Dawson Baker (12) were also in double figures for the Cougars as they won their 21st non-conference home game.

The Cougars shot 61.9 percent from the field, marking the first time they shot over 60.0 percent in a game since defeating Texas 84-72 on Jan. 27, 2024. They also knocked down a season-high seven 3-pointers while going 13-of-16 from the free throw line.

MR. STEAL THE BALL
With 12 steals on Saturday, BYU improved to 57-9 since the beginning of the 2000-01 season when recording 12 or more steals including a perfect 5-0 record under Kevin Young.

Saunders and Keba Keita had career-high performances against the Crusaders finishing with four and three steals respectively.

In fact, Saunders now has 96 steals for BYU career, six away from tying Justin Weidauer (1991-92, 95-98) for the 20th most in program history.

GET AHEAD, STAY AHEAD
BYU's 46-point lead with 6:35 remaining in regulation was the second-largest lead for the Cougars under Kevin Young as they held a 47-point lead over Queens late in the second half of Young's third-ever collegiate game.

Saturday was also the 11th time under Young that BYU did not trail as they led for 39:37 of the 40 minutes after Kennard Davis Jr. scored on the Cougars first possession of the game. Under Young, BYU has held a lead in all but two games which came against Houston last season.
