PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s basketball head coach Lee Cummard announced the signing of Kennedy Woolston, the No. 92-ranked player in the class of 2026, on Wednesday afternoon.
“Kennedy is an extremely good shooter who needs little time and space, but has developed into much more than that,” said Cummard. She has become a very good defender who has great instincts on the defensive side of the ball to go along with her offensive prowess.”
Woolston, ranked No. 92 nationally in the 2026 class by Rivals, will join the Cougars for the 2028-29 season after serving an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The 6-foot combo guard comes to BYU from Lone Peak High School, where she helped lead the Knights to three consecutive Utah 6A state championships. She earned Utah 6A All-State honors in each of her first three seasons — first team in 2025, second team in 2024 and honorable mention in 2023.
During the 2024–25 season, Woolston led Lone Peak in scoring with 14.2 points per game, recording five games of 20 or more points and 20 games in double figures. She also led the team in rebounds (6.5), assists (4.0), steals (2.7) and blocks (0.3) per game.
Woolston made 63 3-pointers while guiding Lone Peak to a 20-7 record and its fourth straight Utah 6A state championship. The Knights won eight of their last nine games, with Woolston earning tournament MVP honors.
Over the summer, Woolston played in 22 games with Mountain West Premier (EYBL U17), shooting 43 percent from 3-point range and averaging 2.8 3-pointers per game.
Woolston chose BYU over offers from Arizona State, Kansas State and Boston College.
