BYU Cougars  ||  3-0, 0-0  ||  Big 12 Conference

WHAT'S AT STAKE || With a win, the Cougars would move to 4-0 to start the season, a feat only accomplished seven other times in program history (1999-2000, 2002-03, 2005-06, 2013-14, 2021-22, 2023-24, 2024-25).

SHARING THE LOVE || The Cougars had seven players score in double figures for the first time since at least the 2000-01 season on Thursday against Omaha. Olivia Hamlin and Delaney Gibb led the charge with 16 apiece, with Brinkley Cannon contributing 15. Bolanle Yussuf notched her first-career game in double figures with 13, while Marya Hudgins recorded 12. Sydney Benally and Lara Rohkohl each turned in 10-point performances to round out a historic offensive outing for BYU.

SHOT OUT OF A CANNON || Brinley Cannon has taken a huge leap forward during the first three games of her sophomore season, increasing her scoring average from 4.5 points to 12.7, rebounding from 2.6 to 7.3 per game, blocks from 0.2 to 2.3 and steals from 0.7 to 2.0 per game. She has also increased her field goal percentage from 48.6 percent to 58.3 percent from the field and from 27.7 percent from three to a 46.2 percent clip.

HAMLIN'S HOT START || Olivia Hamlin is the second-leading scorer for the Cougars through three games at 15.7 points per game and is shooting an efficient 51.5 percent from the field. The freshman scored 13 against Coastal Carolina, 18 against San Jose State and 16 against Omaha. Hamlin has only missed two shots from inside the arc this season and is shooting 86.7 percent on twos. The Santa Clara, Utah native recorded six career highs against Omaha with six rebounds, six assists, seven made field goals, 13 field goal attempts, two makes from three and 28 minutes played.

POUNDING THE GLASS || BYU is crashing the glass, averaging 49 rebounds per game in the first three games of the season, an 11.6 rebound per game increase from a year ago. The Cougars have six players averaging 4.0 rebounds or more per game, with three recording 7.0 or more boards. Lara Rohkohl leads the way with 9.7. The others: Brinley Cannon (7.3), Bola Yussuf (7.3), Marya Hudgins (4.7), Olivia Hamlin (4.3) and Delaney Gibb (4.0).

CLIMBING THE BIG 12 MOUNTAIN || Although the Cougars are focusing on inputs rather than outcomes this season, Cummard and his team have set some lofty goals for the 2025-26 campaign. At Big 12 Media Day, Coach Cummard said, “We haven’t done anything in the league in the first two years. We’ve been in a lot of close games, we’ve upset a few ranked opponents, but we’ve never won a game in the conference tournament. We’ve never finished in the top half of the league. So there are two [goals] right there that we want to strive for daily. We want to be playing late into the conference tournament and go to the NCAA Tournament as a member of the Big 12 Conference.”
