GREENSBORO, NC - BYU men’s swimming set five new top-10 program finishes at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in the Wolfpack Elite Invite on Friday.

Prelims
Friday’s prelims began with the 100 backstroke event, where Max Kleinman hit the wall at 46.63, moving him from fourth into third in BYU’s all-time performances in that event. Following closely behind him was Bryce Broadhead and Payton Plumb, who would all qualified for finals later in the day.

Next up was the 200 breaststroke, where Peter Etzold took sixth with a time of 1:56.85, qualifying him for finals. Following that event, Darwin Anderson and Easton Mousser competed in the 500 freestyle, with the duo each setting personal bests and top-10 BYU times. Mousser would later beat that time in the prelims, bumping him up the rankings in BYU’s 500 freestyle history.

The prelims concluded with the 50 freestyle event, which saw Kleinman lead the Cougars with an 11th-place finish at 19.60. Junior Will Bonnett also competed in the event, earning a new collegiate personal best at 20.14.

Finals
The 400 medley relay started things off in finals with the BYU A relay team — composed of Tanner Edwards, Etzold, Kleinman and Joshua Reed — finishing at 3:08.39, earning them a fifth-place spot among the 20 teams competing.

Etzold again led the Cougars in the 200 breaststroke, earning sixth place and improving his time from prelims to 1:55.37. That time moved him to fourth all-time in program history in the event. Senior Tyler Edlefsen also made his move into BYU history with a 12th-place finish in the event and the 10th-fastest performance in program history thanks to a final time of 1:57.51.

After that, Mousser and Anderson competed in the 500 freestyle, where Mousser improved on his preliminary time and moved into fourth all-time in the event. He finished with a time of 4:22.93 in 14th place, while Anderson followed closely behind in 15th.

The day’s competition closed with the 800 freestyle relay, where the BYU A team took fourth and the B team took seventh.

At the conclusion of day two, BYU sits in fourth with a total score of 670.
