LOS ANGELES — BYU dive competed at the third and final day of the USC Invite on Saturday, wrapping up its first dive meet of the season.

“Proud of our team in their first platform performances,” head coach Tyce Routson said. “A zone-cut score for Marti and Brooklyn Goeckeritz on the platform. A personal best and his first Zone cut score for Ashton Sparks on 1-meter. A very encouraging start and consistency against some tough schools!”

Men’s recap
Llop led things for the third day in a row for the Cougars with a fourth-place finish in the 1-meter event. He scored 277.55 in prelims and finished with 316.95 in finals. His degree of difficulty totaled 16.60.

Sparks scored a collegiate personal best in the 1-meter event with a 309.25 in prelims, followed by a 251.65 in finals. His degree of difficulty through the two rounds totaled 17.30.

Women’s recap
Three women’s divers competed for BYU on the third day of the USC Invitational, with freshman Goeckeritz leading the way. In her first platform event of the season, she scored 226.80 in prelims and 201.95 in finals, earning her an eighth-place finish. Her degree of difficulty totaled 12.10.

Coming in 13th in the platform event was Sophia DeBergh. She finished prelims with a 172.70 and improved in finals with a 205.00. Her degree of difficulty totaled 12.40 on the day.

Aubryn Ordyna also placed in the platform finals at 16th. She scored 179.00 in prelims and improved to 184.20 in finals. Her degree of difficulty totaled 12.30.
