PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s tennis wrapped up its fall season with a pair of strong showings over the weekend, as Kendall Kovick and Gracie Levelston competed at the ITA Sectional Championships in Seattle, while Sue Yan Tan, Sage Bergeson, Karina Mohammed and Bella Lewis represented the Cougars at the CSUN Invitational in Northridge, California.
In Seattle, Kovick opened with a straight-set win over Boise State, 6-3, 6-4, advancing to the round of 16 before falling to USC’s fourth-seeded Krisha Mahendran, 6-3, 6-4. Levelston dropped her opening-round match to Cal, 6-2, 6-1.
In Northridge, BYU dominated singles play with four Cougars picking up straight-set victories on Friday. Tan and Bergeson each posted two wins on the weekend, while Mohammed and Lewis rolled to matching 6-0, 6-0 sweeps.
Tan and Bergeson carried their momentum into doubles with a 6-3 win over Long Beach State, while Mohammed and Lewis narrowly fell, 7-5.
The tournaments marked the conclusion of BYU’s fall schedule. Kovick and Levelston will next compete at the NCAA Doubles Championships in Orlando, Florida, Nov. 19-24.
