Men's Preview
Carter Cutting and a handful other Cougars will look to break four minutes in the mile on Friday afternoon, something that only four runners have ever done in the State of Utah. The sophomore ran 4:05.14 at last year’s Robison Invitational but broke the four-minute barrier three times during the indoor season, including running 3:57.25 at the Husky Classic.
Sebastian Fernandez looks to break his own facility record in the 800-meters as the senior ran 1:46.77 at the Robison last year. He enters the meet ranked No. 13 in the nation in the event after running 1:46.79 in his season opener two weeks ago at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Josh Taylor, Trey Jackson and Eli Hazlett all have their eyes on breaking Michael Bluth’s 400-meter program record. Taylor is the third-fastest performer in the quarter mile in program history with a personal best of 45.76 from 2023. Jackson is the 10th fastest having run 46.24 at the 2022 BYU Cougar Invitational. Hazlett ran 46.06 indoors to finish sixth at the Big 12 Championships and opened his outdoor campaign with a third-place finish at Mt. SAC Relays in 46.30.
Danny Bryant will compete at home for a final time in his career beginning with the hammer throw at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday followed by the shot put and discus on Thursday. Fellow seniors Aaron Wood and Austin Cox will compete in the pole vault.
Women's Preview
Wednesday will feature Maren Garnett and Rebekeh Erikson in the pole vault. Garnett holds BYU's school record in the indoor pole vault at 4.46m/14-7.5 and Erikson holds the program's outdoor school record at 4.31m/14-1.75. Zoey Bonds and Lindsey Middleton will headline the women's 100m hurdles, Alysa Keller will throw the javelin and Paje Rassmussen will run the 100m.
Day two will feature Gretchen Hoekstre in the discus and shot put. The senior holds the Cougars' school record in the discus and stands at No. 2 all-time in the shot put. Freshmen Cortnie Barker and Summer Young will compete in the high jump, Raygan Peterson and Lizzie Dildine will run the 3000m steeplechase and Sami Oblad will run the 200.
Meghan Hunter headlines the women's 800m invite section Friday at 12:20 p.m. Hunter is a two-time First Team All-American in the event and has a lifetime personal best of 2:00.21. True freshman Tessa Buswell will also compete in the two-lap race. Buswell ran the 800m leg on BYU's 2025 distance medley relay national championship squad.
Oblad will run the 400m Saturday at 11:50 a.m. The senior is coming off of a 51.79 performance at the Mt. SAC Relays and holds the program's school records in the indoor and outdoor 400m.
BYU's seniors will be recognized at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1.
