OKLAHOMA CITY — BYU softball sophomore Ilove’a Brittingham was named to USA Softball’s Collegiate Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List, the organization announced on Wednesday morning.
Brittingham was one of 10 Big 12 student-athletes named to the list and represented one of 24 universities nationwide.
The catcher/outfielder has also earned preseason recognition from Softball America and D1Softball, appearing in Softball America’s utility player rankings as well as D1Softball’s D100 preseason player rankings and preseason outfielder rankings.
An NFCA Third Team All-American last season, Brittingham broke BYU’s freshman RBI record with 69 and tied the program’s freshman home run record with 21. She was named a Freshman All-American by both D1Softball and Softball America, earned NFCA All-Mountain Region first team honors and was selected Big 12 Freshman of the Year, All-Big 12 First Team and Big 12 All-Freshman Team.
BYU opens the 2026 season at the Leadoff Classic on Thursday, Feb. 5, in Clearwater, Florida.
