SAN DIEGO, Calif. — BYU women’s tennis finished its weekend at the Aztec Tennis Center on a high note, rolling past Cal Poly, 6–1, on Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs jumped out early by claiming the doubles point with a win at the No. 1 position, as Kennedy Buntrock and Jessica MacCallum edged Gracie Levelston and Sue Yan Tan, 6–4. BYU answered with wins on courts two and three, but Cal Poly’s result at the top spot gave the Mustangs a narrow 1–0 lead heading into singles play.

From there, the Cougars took control.

Levelston ignited the singles lineup with a dominant performance at No. 1, overwhelming MacCallum, 6–0, 6–1, to quickly even the score. YuYun Chen followed on court four, dispatching Alexandra Ozerets in straight sets, 6–3, 6–1, as BYU began to separate.

Momentum continued to swing BYU’s way as Bella Lewis picked up a composed 6–3, 6–4 victory at No. 6. Sue Yan Tan delivered one of the afternoon’s toughest battles at No. 3, rebounding after dropping the opening set to defeat Candela Aparisi, 4–6, 6–1, 6–4.

Sage Bergeson sealed the dual at No. 5, outlasting Natalie Lynch in a tightly contested match, 6–3, 7–6 (7–3), to clinch the Cougars’ sixth point. Cal Poly’s lone singles win came at No. 2, where Kennedy Buntrock edged Kendall Kovick in straight sets.

BYU improves to 3–1 on the season with the victory, while Cal Poly falls to 0–1.
