BOISE, Idaho — The BYU women’s tennis team earned a 4-3 road victory over the Boise State Broncos on Friday, using a strong start in doubles and timely wins late in singles play to secure the decision.

BYU claimed the doubles point with victories on courts two and three. YuYun Chen and Kendall Kovick earned a 6-2 win over Carla Grignac and Allison Isaacs, while Bella Lewis and Karina Mohamed followed with a 6-3 victory against Paula Schaefer and Masa Viriant to clinch the point. The top doubles match was left unfinished with BYU leading 4-3.

Singles play remained tightly contested as Boise State picked up three wins to move in front 3-2. The Broncos earned points on courts three, four and five, setting up a decisive finish on the remaining courts.

The Cougars answered at the top of the lineup, with Gracie Levelston defeating Zdena Safarova 6-3, 6-4 on court one to level the match. Lewis then secured the match-clinching point at No. 6, defeating Carla Grignac in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Kovick added another point for BYU at No. 2, winning a three-set match over Tereza Polakova, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
