PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s tennis returns to the Indoor Tennis Courts this weekend with momentum on its side, hosting Washington State on Friday, Feb. 13 at 12:00 p.m. MST, followed by Denver on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 10:00 a.m. MST.
The Cougars enter the weekend riding a five match win streak and a strong 7–1 start to the spring season. BYU has found consistency across the lineup, with multiple players contributing at key moments as the team continues to build chemistry heading into conference play. The Cougars have been steady in singles play throughout the early season, while doubles pairings have provided crucial early momentum in several matches.
Leading the way for BYU are Gracie Levelston and Kendall Kovick, who enter the weekend ranked No. 38 nationally in doubles. The duo has been a reliable point at the top of the lineup and will be a key factor as BYU looks to set the tone in doubles play. In singles, the Cougars have received strong contributions across the lineup, with consistent performances from Sage Bergeson, Bella Lewis, YuYun Chen and Karina Mohamed helping BYU secure momentum during its current stretch of success. Depth throughout the order has allowed BYU to lean on multiple players in pressure moments.
Friday’s matchup features a Washington State team that arrives in Provo with a 3–1 overall record, with wins over Idaho, Fresno State and UC Davis. Washington State has competed well early in the season and will look to challenge BYU’s depth across the lineup.
Saturday’s contest brings an unbeaten Denver team to Provo, as the Pioneers enter the weekend 5–0 on the season after opening the spring with wins over Seattle, Miami (Ohio), Colorado, Air Force and Colorado State. Denver has shown consistency across singles courts and will provide a strong measuring stick for BYU as the Cougars look to extend their winning streak.
With momentum building and the first home matches of the spring on deck, BYU will look to continue its strong early-season form in front of the Provo crowd. The weekend presents an opportunity for the Cougars to establish home-court presence and continue building toward Big 12 play.
