PROVO, Utah – BYU will travel up the valley to compete in the UVU Collegiate Invitational at Hal Wing Track & Field on March 26.
Kat Beachler, Lia Katoa, Jayda Lee and Lia Pili are set for the hammer throw. Katoa currently ranks No. 7 in program history in the event. In 2024, she posted a 56.91m/186-8.
The distance crew will make its outdoor debut, with entries in the 800-meter and 1500m. Tessa Buswell enters as the highest seed in the 800m, and she will be joined by Krystie Solomon-Jensen, Kylie Olsen, Anne Elise Packard and Brilee Pontius. Buswell holds the eighth-fastest time in Cougar history. Last outdoor season, she clocked a 2:02.26.
BYU has 15 entries in the 1500m, expected to be led by school record holder Carlee Hansen-Thompson. Last outdoor season, Hansen-Thompson crossed in 4:07.64 to set a school record. Taylor Rohatinsky will also be competing and holds the No. 8 program time with her 4:12.76. They will be joined by Grace Hutchison, Emerald Kehr, Carmen Alder, Jenna Hutchins, Zariel Macchia, Jacey Harkins-Farmer, Taylor Lovell, Karissa Chamberlain, Addie Meldrum, Raygan Peterson, Nelah Roberts, River White and Buswell.
Other teams entered in the event include host Utah Valley, Snow College, Utah State, Westminster, Southern Utah, Idaho State, Weber State and Northwest Nazarene.
