OREM, Utah – Tessa Buswell, Carmen Alder and Lia Katoa each won an event in the UVU Collegiate Invitational on Thursday at Hal Wing Track & Field.
Katoa and the throws group started things off in the hammer throw. The Layton, Utah product threw a 181-4.5 in her first attempt in the hammer throw this season. Jayda Lee also qualified for the final round and finished fourth with her 175-5.5.
Buswell won the 800-meter after she crossed in 2:05.15, with Krystie Solomon-Jensen just behind her in second with 2:05.42. Kylie Olsen took third with 2:08.07.
Alder made her track season debut with a win in the 1500m. The senior won the event in 4:17.17, and program record holder Carlee Hansen-Thompson took second with 4:18.50. Three more Cougars rounded out the top five in Jacey Harkins-Farmer, Taylor Rohatinsky and Nelah Roberts.
