After earning unanimous Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors and a spot on the All-Big 12 Second Team as a freshman, Delaney Gibb picked up where she left off to open her sophomore season.
Gibb averaged 16.3 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 0.5 blocks over the first four games. She recorded her first 20-point performance of the season against San Jose State Spartans, knocking down five 3-pointers, then dished a career-high eight assists in BYU’s win over Fresno State Bulldogs to help the Cougars start 4-0.
The sophomore guard’s momentum was halted by a lower leg injury that sidelined her for the remainder of nonconference play.
Gibb returned to the lineup for BYU’s Big 12 opener at UCF, coming off the bench for the first time in her career. She finished with 12 points, two assists, two steals, one block and one rebound in just 16 minutes of action. That performance sparked a stretch of nine consecutive double-figure scoring games, during which she averaged 17.9 points, 4.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 2.3 3-pointers per game.
She helped BYU earn four conference wins during that span, matching the team’s conference win total from 2024-25. The Cougars also defeated No. 19 Texas Tech Lady Raiders 73-61 at home, marking the first ranked win of the Lee Cummard era. Gibb went 5-of-10 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, finishing with 18 points, six assists, five rebounds, four steals and a block.
After back-to-back losses, Gibb led BYU to its first win over rival Utah Utes since 2021. She scored just eight points but added eight rebounds — including three offensive boards — seven assists and four steals in a 77-65 home victory.
The Raymond, Alberta, native elevated her play in the second half of conference action, averaging 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.8 blocks over the final eight Big 12 games. She helped the Cougars finish 4-4 in that stretch, securing a 9-9 conference record and a ninth-place finish — BYU’s best since joining the league in 2023.
Gibb’s signature performance came in an 86-74 victory at Utah on Feb. 21. Nearly a year after scoring a then-career-high 36 points in Salt Lake City, she delivered 37 points, five assists and five rebounds at the Huntsman Center. After scoring 10 points in the first half, Gibb erupted for 27 points after halftime, adding two assists, two rebounds, a steal and a block to help BYU complete its first season sweep of Utah as conference opponents since 2011.
With the Cougars hovering on the NCAA Tournament bubble, BYU closed the regular season with two critical games. The All-Big 12 First Team selection scored game highs of 24 at Arizona State and 26 against Colorado Buffaloes.
She added seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks in a 66-61 road win over ASU, handing the Sun Devils just their second home loss of the season. Gibb capped the regular season with 26 points, seven assists and six rebounds, along with a steal and a block, in a 75-62 victory over Colorado.
During the Cougars’ three-game winning streak to close the regular season, Gibb averaged 29.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.7 blocks per game.
Gibb earned three Big 12 Starting Five honors during the season and was named to the midseason top 10 for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award, presented by the USBWA.
