PROVO, Utah – BYU basesball dropped a midweek non-conference game, 16–3, to Kansas State on Tuesday afternoon at Miller Park. 

With the loss, BYU falls to 13–14 (4–5) on the year, while KSU improved to 19-10 (4-5).

Kansas State took control early, scoring four runs in the first inning, and continued its strong offensive showing throughout the afternoon with six home runs. The Cougars got home runs from Ezra McNaughton and Easton Jones, but it was not enough, as K-State outslugged the Cougs 17-8.

Summary

Before the Cougars had a chance to bat, the Wildcats got on the board quickly with a pair of home runs, helping the visitors to a 4–0 in the top of the first. With one out, BYU cut into the Kansas State lead with a home run from Ezra McNaughton in the bottom half of the first, his ninth of the season, tying the team high.

Kansas State added to its lead over the next four innings with back-to-back two-run frames, followed by single runs in the fourth and fifth for a 10-1 advantage. 

After holding the Wildcats scoreless for the first time in the top of the sixth, BYU recorded its second home run of the game as Easton Jones sent his 10th of the season over the left-field wall. With Ryder Robinson already on base, the deficit was cut to 10–3.

Kansas State capped off the scoring with six more runs over the next two innnigs, including five in the eighth for a 16-3 win.
