PROVO, Utah — No. 27 BYU women’s tennis returns home this week for its final two matches of the regular season, hosting No. 11 Arizona State on Thursday at 12 p.m. MDT and No. 29 Arizona on Saturday at 11 a.m. MDT at the Outdoor Tennis Courts.

BYU enters the weekend at No. 27 in the latest ITA rankings, its highest national ranking since reaching No. 26 in 2006, and will look to capitalize on two major opportunities at home before the start of the Big 12 Championship.

The Cougars split their most recent road trip, earning a 4-3 win at No. 38 Baylor before falling 4-0 at No. 22 TCU. Prior to that trip, BYU built momentum with ranked wins over No. 73 Kansas State and No. 25 Oklahoma State, continuing a strong push through Big 12 play.

Arizona State enters at 17-4 overall and 9-2 in conference play, riding a seven-match win streak. The Sun Devils have picked up key ranked wins this season over No. 34 Texas Tech and No. 65 Colorado.

Arizona comes in at 17-8 overall and 7-4 in conference play, with notable wins over UCF, Houston, Kansas and Texas Tech, including a recent 4-0 sweep of the Red Raiders.

Both matches will mark the first meetings of the season between BYU and the Arizona schools, with conference positioning and postseason seeding implications on the line.

Saturday’s match will also serve as Senior Day for Kendall Kovick, who has been a key contributor for the Cougars throughout her career. Kovick holds a 7-10 singles record this season while competing primarily in the middle of the lineup. In doubles, she has posted a 10-6 overall record and has partnered across multiple pairings throughout the year.

Kovick and Gracie Levelston are currently ranked No. 78 in the ITA doubles rankings and advanced to the NCAA Doubles Round of 16 this past fall, marking one of the program’s strongest postseason doubles runs in recent years.

With the Big 12 Championship up next, BYU has an opportunity to build momentum and strengthen its resume with two top-30 matchups to close out the regular season.
