SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. — Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan had a 2-under-par round two to put her tied for eighth at the NCAA Louisville Regional at 5-under par on Tuesday at the University of Louisville Golf Club.

Barragan’s (69-70–139) slow start to day two was overcome by a strong finish. After a bogey on hole one and a double bogey on hole seven, Barragan finished her front nine on a good note with a birdie on nine.

The junior’s putter got going on the back nine, sinking birdie putts on 10, 12, 16 and 18. This brought the birdie counter to five on the day to put the Mexico native at 5-under par. Barragan finished the second round one stroke behind the low individual leaders, Isabella Johnson from Middle Tennessee.
